This last year creating the Nomadic Writers site and Substack has been a wonderful experience of growth, travel, and self discovery. I’m sad to say that many good journey’s come to an end with new insight and direction for the future. So I felt the need to write this little goodbye as a thank you to our readers, who enjoyed our work enough to join us along the journey.
Myself and Tom have had a wonderful experience, trying to build a relationship and business — but as is the case sometimes in life we’ve decided on going our separate ways. I’m so proud that with another I was able to build something from the ground up – from 0 views to over 13k per month in just under a year. Just two people, no money spent other than the Squarespace subscription and without any prior experience.
And while the website was at the beginning of its potential, I’m so honoured to have been a part of it, and I’m hyped to see what’s up next in our careers. There’s no doubt in my mind that it was immensely valuable for learning in every area of my life, and I wish Tom every success in his future as he is an incredible man who I have no doubt will create amazing things in future.
You can keep up with his Content Writing journey on his Linkedin (I’ll link both of ours below). For myself I plan to head off towards YouTube video content creation in gaming while building other Substacks to see where they lead, maybe even build a new site from scratch (not a clue what I’ll create it on yet).
I have no idea what the future holds but I’m excited and hopeful that it’ll be full of lessons, growth and further self understanding.
For those of you that have been with us since the inception of our site, I’m genuinely tearing up as I write this, thank you so so much for your support and to all the wonderful people who commented on our site or engaged with our work.
You’ve inspired me immensely more than you know! Every comment spurred me on, every glimmer of connection from you guys has genuinely made the hard work worth it.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you the absolute best, and I extend a deep apology as I will no longer be able to reply to comments that arise on our website as I no longer have access to the site as the subscription needed to be renewed, but when I rebuild perhaps I will try to regain said access just for comments. I’ll also be making all the content on the Substack public and unpaid as we won’t be working on it anymore.
I’m happy I got to build a business and learnt a ton about website creation, content, and found a sense of purpose in the work that I do. It was a part of time that I will look back on with gratitude for every single lesson and the ability to create freely and go our own path – the beginning of a path that I aim to continue down myself.
We found the courage to dare to try, and for that I will not regret one moment.
To those reading, thanks again for being there throughout and follow Tom Gill on Linkedin to see what awesome projects he does next. And keep tabs on me Jacqueline Renouard via my Linkedin to see what weird and wacky projects I get up to next.
Finally wishing you the best, and a big farewell from
